Tom Jones longs to touch its green, green grass. And if you’re a ten-year-old Macauley Culkin, its somewhere you definitely don’t want to be alone at Christmas. Home!

We’re nearing the end of an exhausting year of global pandemic. We stayed at home, holidayed at home and worked from home as much as possible. We’ve hosted birthday parties on Zoom at home ...

Not Just Another Christmas

Classicmusic [Public domain], from Wikimedia CommonsA few years ago, The Washington Post conducted an experiment.  It involved the world-renowned, Grammy Award-winning violinist, Joshua Bell.

Bell had entranced audiences in concert halls all over the world. People paid hundreds of dollars to watch him play on his $3.5 million Stradivarius violin. He’s a virtuoso in his field and a total genius.

Mei Lin

Mei LinAs a teenager, I came to realise that I was not good and that if there was a God, he wouldn't be pleased with me.

But was there a God?

I tried to be a good person, but failed miserably. I learned about different faiths, looking for answers.

I asked people their views about God. In one such conversation I learned that Jesus died on the cross because, although he is completely good he took the punishment for all the wrong things we have done. I also learned that if I asked him he would forgive me and change my life. When I heard that message, I realised he was the answer I had been looking for.

I pray that you will experience his presence, love and forgiveness this Christmas and always.

Matthew

MatthewGrowing up in Pakistan, the thought of living without a faith was impossible to imagine. On moving to the UK for university, my love for the new luxuries available meant that I no longer saw a need for faith in my life. However, God hadn't given up on me.

The almost weekly reminder at church that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with God helped me to see my faith in a new light. I came to understand that this relationship isn't just an abstract concept - it is something that can be enjoyed. When I realised what was truly offered by God, my faith no longer felt a burden to bear but a joy to behold. I discovered that God isn't a distant being, but a loving Father.
