Heart Felt

What’s on my heart today? Well, just like every other day, a lot!

Peter Baker | 09:23, Saturday, 25 September 2010

Heart searching is a familiar expression, but I have come to see the importance of heart guarding. That, it seems to me, is the distinctive Biblical requirement for godly living.

"Above all guard your heart, for it is the well spring of life." (Proverbs 4: 23).

Actually, the problem according to Jeremiah 17:9, is that the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, so today I am thanking God that through Jesus I have been given a new heart.

My heart of stone has been replaced by a heart of flesh, which is sensitive to God’s Spirit and responsive to God’s truth now written on my heart.

Such tender heartedness means that today when I hear a voice that calls me away from love for God, I guard my heart. I hide His word there. I keep in step with His Spirit.
