God from God, Light from Light ...

"We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ... God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made."

These ancient words from the Nicene Creed, first confessed 1700 years ago in AD 325, still ring with extraordinary power today. They remind us that Christmas is not just a sentimental story or seasonal tradition—it's the astonishing claim that the eternal Son of God stepped into our world. The Word became flesh and lived among us.

something remarkable seems to be stirring

Two millennia later, we still celebrate that same arrival: the light that broke into darkness, the life that conquered death, the love that will not let us go. And in our own time, something remarkable seems to be stirring. Across the country, many—especially younger people—are quietly turning again toward faith, searching for meaning, community, and truth beyond the noise. In a world that often feels fragmented and uncertain, there's even talk of a "quiet revival" of spiritual curiosity. Perhaps you've felt it too—an unexpected longing, a gentle nudge, a renewed openness to wonder.

the God who created all things ... came near

 Here at Highfields Church, where we're celebrating our own fortieth anniversary this year, we love seeing how the ancient truths of Christianity continue to speak to modern hearts. The Nicene Creed may be seventeen centuries old, but its message from the Bible is timeless: the God who created all things has not remained distant. He came near—born in Bethlehem, crucified for us, risen in glory, and still transforming lives today.
