Building work begins…

Almost a month on from the last blog post and how time flies!

The 25 is now the 35 and counting with missionally-minded people coming forward to join our fledgling congregation. Life groups are beginning to gel now as people get to know one another and study God’s word together. It’s an exciting time to watch what God is doing amongst us.

In some ways you could argue that not a huge amount has actually happened over the last month. Still no building, with developments slow regarding Caxton Place and very few other options for places to meet. But I am reminded of Ephesians 2 where the apostle Paul writes;

[You are] "(19) …fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, (20) built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. (21) In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. (22) And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit."

Sure, we are not building with bricks and mortar right now. But God is building, by His Spirit as we meet together around his word. We must not underestimate the significance of what God is doing amongst us as He builds His people in Pontprennau into a dwelling in which He lives by His Spirit.

I am sure that we will look back in days to come and recognise that these times were absolutely crucial in the formation of Highfields’ Pontprennau Congregation and that the foundations laid in this time, of community, prayerfulness and the centrality of God’s word, will stand the building in good stead in times to come.

Please keep praying for us, that our foundations would be always in Christ Jesus, and that we may rise to be a holy temple in Pontprennau for the glory of His name!
