This is a four week series at Highfields Pontprennau looking at the book of Ruth, and we begin with the story of Naomi and Ruth’s arrival from Moab in chapter 1. Here we’ll see the sovereignty and the love of God in the hardships of Naomi and the remarkable commitment of Ruth. Ruth was a Moabite, who married into the Hebrew family of Elimelech and Naomi, whom she met when they left Bethlehem and relocated to Moab due to a famine. Elimelech and his two sons died, leaving Naomi and her two daughters-in-law as widows. When Naomi decided to return to Bethlehem, Ruth decided to go with her despite the fact that Orpah, Naomi's other daughter-in-law went back home. Ruth famously vowed to follow Naomi in the following passage:
But Ruth replied, 'Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.'

This is a series of Sunday evening services held at Cathays looking at the book of Isaiah. In Isaiah 1:18 it is written:
"Come now, let us settle the matter," says the Lord.
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool."
