Taking God at His Word

Nearly 500 years ago, Martin Luther wrote: 'If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ.'

Since Genesis 3, Satan has tried to get people to doubt God's word.

Subtly question God's word, 'did God really say...?', and the whole Christian faith becomes up for grabs.

One of the distinctives of evangelical Christians has been a rock solid commitment to the Bible, but recent years have seen a growing temptation to water that down. And that always comes with a very high price tag.

On Sunday mornings over the summer at Highfields we are going to be looking at the Doctrine of Scripture. Rather than working through one book, we'll be trying to synthesize what the Bible as whole has to say about itself.

Luther concluded 'Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield besides is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.'

Join us as we seek to stand where the battle for the Bible most rages, as we take God at his word.
